Charles, the baby, perhaps not strong enough to survive the famine, died just four months later in March of 1738.
Over the next few years the family would begin to spread apart. The four surviving children from Francois' marriage to Marie Anne Thiboutot would soon be of age to marry. Three settled in the parish of St Anne de la Pocatière, just upriver on the St Lawrence from Rivière Ouelle. The fourth, along with the children of Marie Francoise Roy established themselves in the parish of Kamouraska, about 10+ miles to the east.
